PagePlus 11 Gets Good Review
Monday, 19 December 2005
ImageI don't use PagePlus much myself, as most of the design work I do is for the web; but occaisinally I have to make a greeting card or a flyer and I do a mass production once a year of two-sided, laminated 'flip' cards for the youth and varsity football teams. The cards have a team's schedule on the front side and the roster of players, coaches and cheerleaders on the 'flip' side. I have my layouts saved for both the front and back and a printing format set up for each side so that its pretty simple to paste in the text edits from year to year without having to redesign from scratch every year. I'm still using PagePlus 9, but it sounds like its time for an upgrade...although I can't imagine the program being much better.

Elisabetta Bruno is sr. associate editor and founding member of designorati.com, "a site of information and interaction, where creative minds can find all they need in one place". Ms. Bruno has written a favorable review of PagePlus 11 that is definitely worth checking out. Although some won't agree with all of Ms. Bruno's findings, she has obviously put the program to a fair test and has done a good job of illustrating and documenting the results. You can find the full review HERE.

PhotoPlus9 for web development
Sunday, 27 February 2005
I'm using PhotoPlus 9 and I just love it! Even though I have Photo Shop...I only use it if I need to extract text from a PSD file (Photo Shop Document). I recently was part of a project to create a site for Gegax Management Systems. A design firm was retained to create the look of the site. They produced a PSD file for nearly every page of the site and it was my job to turn the PSDs into .jpg images and build them into the site template and content pages. The site utilizes the Mambo open source content management system...the same CMS used for RoguesPlus.net.

User Web Sites

What have you been doing with your Serif products? I've added a category to Web Links for Users' Sites. If you are a registered user you can click on the link that says: "Submit New Bookmark" and add the url to your site. The main category can be used for any site, but if you have used a Serif product(s) to create your site, you can place it in the appropriate category and add a description if you want. If you use the "Serif Design Products" category, please let us know what products were used and for what.

Update!
Wednesday, 25 August 2004

Hi everyone! I guess you all figure the site is dead. Well...its not. I've just been busy. I'm getting ready to make some design improvements very soon, but more importantly, I want to get something going with new articles and some tutorials. I'm going to need some help with building content, so I'm asking for volunteers to become authors and post information to the site. I will be contacting some people personally to invite them to make some contributions, but anyone is welcome to email me with stories to publish. Almost any format will be acceptable. Any Serif publication (except native WP9 files), doc, text or html files will be fine. The site also features a wysiwyg text editor for adding content right from the front end, but you must have author access to use it. Just contact me to let me know you are interested in becoming an author I will make the necessarty adjustments to your account. Thanks everyone...stay tuned!

The Votes Are In!
Thursday, 26 February 2004
Ladies and Gentlemen...we have a tie. I know this will not sit well with some of you, but as the curator of the site, I have flipped a two-headed coin and the winner is RoguesPlus.net. Here are the final results of the survey:

Now, I did everything in my power to be fair and make this a democratic process. Had there been a clear winner, I surely would have gone with it...without regard to my own personal favorite. Please believe me when I say I accepted no favors from any lobby in making this decision, nor was I threatened or blackmailed in any way.

Keep an eye on this site!
Thursday, 12 February 2004
I have seen some very nice work created using Serif programs. Steven Bradley's eye (I call it "Luck 'O' the Iris") is a perfect example. In fact, it appears to be a "shining" example. The eye was produced using PhotoPlus 8 from a PhotoShop tutorial on the web. This site will feature work like this as well as tutorials and links to other resources they may be of value to Serif users. Links will also be provided to the many tutorials and information currently available on the Serif web site as well.
